Northbridge Sailing Club gets a federal boost

Member for North Sydney, Trent Zimmerman, announced today a $15,000 grant to help the Northbridge Sailing Club revamp its club house facilities.

“Northbridge Sailing Club runs a fantastic sailing program for junior sailors aged between 8 and 12 and is run by a dedicated team of volunteers,” Mr Zimmerman said.
“The funding has enabled the club to replace their Clubhouse kitchen which was decades old and in a poor condition.

“The junior sailing program provides the local community the opportunity to come together and participate in healthy competition and enjoy our local waters ways and outdoors.

“As the club continues to grow and expand their highly regarded learn to sail program, they’re also developing closer relationships with local schools and other organisations which is great for the sailing community and the Club’s standing locally,” Mr Zimmerman said.

“It was a pleasure to visit the Northbridge Sailing Club this week and meet with Commodore Steven Worrall and some of his team of dedicated junior sailors and see how the Turnbull Government’s contribution is making a difference to the Club’s operations and capabilities.

“Northbridge Sailing Club is run by volunteers and is a community club. We have over 200 members and they’re very thankful to our local member Trent Zimmerman for working with us to secure this important funding for some much needed investment in our Club,” Commodore Worrall said.

“Our sailors and their families are really enjoying the new Junior Sailing Program, it’s going from strength to strength, and this funding will enable us to grow the program to accommodate more junior sailors who want to join the club and get involved,” Commodore Worrall said.

“I congratulate the Northbridge Sailing Club and their members and volunteers on their successful funding application and I look forward to working with them and supporting the club and its local sailors well into the future,” Mr Zimmerman concluded.

The funding is part of the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Program.
