Statement on the retirement of the Hon Jillian Skinner

  • January 27, 2017

Trent Zimmerman MP has issued the following statement on the retirement of the Hon Jillian Skinner.

“Jillian Skinner has been a faithful servant of the people of North Shore for almost 23 years. Her commitment to the electorate and to the health portfolio in NSW is unmatched in recent memory. In her time as the Member for North Shore, Jillian has served in health related portfolios, either in opposition or in Government, for a total of more than 19 years.”

“Her achievements are many and varied and include the redevelopment of Royal North Shore Hospital which has become one of the leading health facilities not only in NSW but across the country. She has driven the establishment of the new Northern Beaches Hospital, pioneered the return of decision making in health to local communities and delivered an additional 4200 nurses into our health system.”

“I am proud to count Jillian Skinner as a friend. She has always been generous with her time when assisting constituents and fostered warm and constructive relationships with a range of community groups. In her maiden speech in 1994 she told the parliament of her open door policy and her obligation to give of her best when seeking solutions for the community. She has certainly fulfilled that obligation and will be sorely missed.”

“I wish Jillian, her husband Chris, and her children Amy, Simon and Robbie all the best for the future.”
