Lane Cove Pool Opens
With summer just around the corner, it’s fantastic to see the Lane Cove Olympic Pool reopening following its complete rebuild. It’s sure to be an absolute hit with local swimmers of all ages. Residents will remember that the old pool was suddenly closed due to major structural issues. The pool is one of our area’s most important and serves both local residents and school students across a wide catchment.
I organised a petition to campaign for the federal government to help Lane Cove Council rebuild the pool. The response from the local community was overwhelming and armed with that level of support I was able to secure $2 million from Canberra for the project. The new complex will feature a brand new 8 lane 50 metre pool with a state of the art divider that will allow the pool to operate in both 25 metre and 50 metre lengths. The pool has a new grandstand that can seat up to 800 spectators which will be perfect for competitions and school carnivals.
With the number of young families in our local area growing, improving our local sporting infrastructure has been one of my priorities and it was great to see this project completed so quickly
